Crabs are a minor but annoying enemy throughout Ecco. In one of the timelines they are considered to be descended from the Vortex. Most crabs glide across the screen and become an impediment to Ecco, but some lie in wait and attack when he swims near.
Ecco the Dolphin[]
In the original Ecco game there are multiple crab types. The Red Crab makes its first appearance in The Lagoon with Arctic Spiders and Spider Crabs appearing later on.
Ecco Junior[]
Many varieties of crabs appear in Ecco Junior. Rock Crabs are the only type that directly affect Ecco, and three lobsters appear as background aesthetics (Lobster, Red Lobster and Large Lobster).
Alpha Crabs[]
Crabworms, Crabsnakes and Tethercrabs appeared in the alpha version of Ecco: The Tides of Time.
