A large part of Ecco's adventure in Ecco: The Tides of Time was the search for the Asterite's scattered globes. Ecco had to gather all the pieces of the Asterite to reconstruct it and get his powers back to fight the Vortex Queen. This led Ecco on a quest across the entire ocean. Ecco found the globes in everywhere from little crevasses to bays and even one pair were being carried by a Blue Whale pod. This part of Ecco's journey was very long because Ecco could only carry up to two globes at the same time. The final pair were hidden in the Dark Future and Ecco only found them after being kidnapped by a pair of Vortex Drones.
