Stone Eating Stars are a background creature in many levels of Ecco the Dolphin. They appear when Ecco swims near their home and remain visible until Ecco swims too far or until they naturally disappear. Stone Eating Stars appear in a circling group of 6 and should not be confused with the Dark Starfish.

Like Wentletraps they can be sung towards boulders to destroy them, however unlike the spiral shells Stone Eating Stars will additionally destroy enemies in their path such as Red Crabs. A golden variety of this star appears in The Marble Sea.
